Will the iPhone 5 Mini iPad Take On The Samsung Galaxy Note
The Galaxy Note has become a relative success for Samsung in 2012. Is Apple looking to take on this smartphone/tablet crossover with a large-screenediPhone 5 or Mini iPad?
The Samsung Galaxy Note has been laughed off byAppledom for its built-in stylus pen and big, bulky screen — a device that doesn’t know if it is a smartphone or tablet. And yet, in spite of the widespread ambivalence of the Samsung Galaxy Note’s design and place in the mobile computing sphere, it has managed to lead Samsung’s recent sales successes. According to CNBC, Samsung “will report strong first-quarter profit of around USD 4.5 billion on Friday on soaring sales of its flagship Galaxy smartphones and the new Note, a mini-tablet and phone,” adding that “Sales of the Note, which has revived the throwback stylus function, have topped 5 million, increasing the competition against Apple Inc.”
Compared to the fact that the iPhone 4S sold 4 million units in its first weekend alone, 5 million Samsung Galaxy Note sales may not seems all too impressive when comparing it against Apple’s iPhone sales. But pound for pound, it cannot be denied that the Galaxy Note has turned out to be a design success; people are buying it, people are liking it, and — most importantly in Apple’s eyes — it’s making Samsung money.

Nintendo to release most of Nintendo TVii on 12 20

True to their word, Nintendo plans to update the Wii-U with support for the Nintendo TVii service they announced back in September. Unfortunately, the app will still be missing several of the features that were mentioned then.
It feels like every major company is currently battling for control of your television. As the largest screen in most people’s homes, and arguably the most used one, it is a valuable piece of digital real estate. Nintendo TVii seemed to push the Wii U pretty far ahead of the pack when it was announced back in September. The service promised video aggregation, TV remote controls, a TV guide app, and connection to digital services like Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix. Combined with the other features built in to the Wii U, it made the console one of the first devices capable of comfortably sitting between the user and the television. Now that it is finally here, however, the service is still not quite finished.
Integration with TiVO services, especially the ability to play back video recorded on TiVO units and grab the guide information, will not be available at launch. Netflix integration with Nintendo TVii, despite already having the Netflix app on the Wii U, will also not be available at launch. These two features will be made available some time in 2013. The TiVO Integration especially was a key feature when showing off the service at the Wii U launch event, and at this time it is unclear when in 2013 that feature will become available or why there’s been a delay.
Nintendo TVii still offers a pretty powerful app for those interested in aggregating all of their video content in one place. The Wii U GamePad’s IR blaster offers control in a place that the other game consoles don’t have yet, which makes it much easier for users to want to reach for the GamePad as the remote for their entertainment system. Nintendo has also done a great job making it comfortable to swap video between the television and the GamePad with zero interruption, so long as you are within range of the console. The Wii U will be a fantastic addition to any entertainment center, once it is finished.

BlackBerry Z10 shown in first hands on video

Weve had an early look at the BlackBerry Z10 already -- both from a leak of RIM marketing materials and from footage allegedly showing the handsets components -- but Austrian publication Telekom-Presse can lay claim to the first hands-on video with the phone. The seven-and-a-half-minute clip shows off the hardware in great detail -- including what looks to be a removable plastic cover on the backing -- and the narrator lists specs, including a 4.2-inch HD display, a dual-core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. According to the video, the Z10 weighs about 125 grams (4.4 ounces). Of course, the hands-on also demos the BB10 operating system, and it looks to run quite smoothly as the user carries out such gestures as swiping to reveal the BlackBerry Hub. Well get an even better look at the Z10 when it becomes official, but for now jump past the break for a look at the video (natürlich auf Deutsch).
